TwinLine

TwinLine

Twinline is a feature in Flux that positions the edges of adjacent parts so that a single laser pass cuts both edges at once. This is done by setting the gap between parts equal to the kerf width. Using TwinLine can significantly reduce both machine time and material usage. The example below demonstrates this.

Activation

TwinLine can be enabled in both the part workflow and the job workflow.

In the Job Workflow, parts can be twin-lined by selecting the TwinLine checkbox in the Parts tab.

In the Part Workflow, you need to create a single part (Shift+Click on the Quick-Nest icon). To generate several parts with twin-line nesting, click the part and hover over the top right corner until you see the arrow pointing outwards. Shift+Click and drag the arrow to create a twin-line block.

Once a twin-line block is created, it is not possible to manually explode it into independent parts.

Previewing the sequence of cuts

To preview the cuts and their sequence, open the Sequence tab. In this tab, all the cuts of a twin-line group will be grouped together and listed in the order in which they will be cut. You can move through these items using the mouse up/down keys to play the sequence in which cuts are made.

The sequence within a twin-line group cannot be modified. You will not be able to move individual items or subsets of items. Also, it is not allowed to split a twin-line group by dropping items into this group. Only the entire twin-line group can be moved together.
